CompTIA Facts about IT Beginners

Are you ready to begin the path to a successful IT career? If you are starting your search for your first IT job or looking to advance your IT skill set, CompTIA certification is the right path to go. Here are CompTIA Facts about IT Beginners "It’s not just about Windows and PCs. While previous versions of the A+ certification exams focused on supporting Windows-based desktops and laptops, the current version reflects a major shift in the IT support role. Instead of a PC break-fix model driving required skills, the 900 series focuses on supporting a user’s ability to access needed information, no matter the device. This shift in support philosophy means that IT pros must be familiar with multiple operating systems." "IT support and troubleshooting sit at the core of the certification. Technical support and troubleshooting are among the top three skills requested in job ads for entry-level IT professionals. And with good reason. It’s one thing to understand how something works, but it’s quite another to be able to troubleshoot when something goes awry." "Cybersecurity is a big deal. Once believed to be the domain of the IT security specialist, there’s growing awareness that IT security is a responsibility shared by all – from the end user in accounting to the CEO. IT professionals, especially those in help desk and technical support roles, carry the burden of being at the front lines in the battle against unauthorized intrusions." "Cloud and virtualization are in the mix. Gone are the days when most organizations were simply experimenting with cloud computing. As companies rely more heavily on cloud-based technologies to run mission-critical IT systems, the need to support those systems becomes paramount. CompTIA A+ introduces the basics of virtualization, cloud computing and desktop imaging, and deployment – knowledge needed to support today’s IT infrastructures." Read More To ...

Adobe News: AI-powered vertical video tech

Adobe News: AI-powered vertical video tech "The Adobe evangelist showed how easy it is to erase backgrounds and select subjects with the combined powers of Adobe's Sensei AI engine and Intel's chips. He also showed off Adobe's AI-powered instant vertical video tech, which can be used to create vertical clips from horizontal ones. The technology doesn't just crop videos, though: it can follow a subject around and focus on it, so creators or editors won't have to manually edit videos for Snapchat and mobile-first social network elements like Instagram Stories. Intel also showcased its upcoming discrete graphics card and a 17-inch foldable tablet at the event, but those parts weren't nearly as entertaining as what you can watch below." Check out the video below on AI-powered vertical video tech. Will 5G Affect Mobile App Development?

Will 5G Affect Mobile App Development? " The industry buzz surrounding 5G technology and its impact on the next generation of connectivity and services is exhilarating, and that excitement is not only shared among consumers, but with developers, tech-driven enterprises and carriers as well. According to a study conducted by GSMA earlier this year, 5G will account for 15% of the global mobile industry by 2025, with a predicted 1.4 billion devices operating on a 5G network. For the mobile app development industry, the introduction of 5G networks will not only influence the way people use mobile apps, but it will also present new opportunities for developers. Looking ahead, 5G will allow developers to explore, build new platforms and create apps that will offer faster, more personalized user experiences. This post will specifically look at the benefits of 5G technology that will enhance the functionality of current mobile apps and how these benefits will impact and influence the development of future mobile applications. What Is 5G? 5G is not a modified version of 4G; instead, it’s an entirely new network infrastructure. 5G holds the potential to revolutionize the way mobile networks function. 5G networks promise to strengthen mobile connectivity and improve the smartphone experience for users by delivering faster data sharing, with connectivity speeds that reach approximately 10 gigabits per second. That is 10 times faster than existing wireless technology. High-speed data transfer will completely change the way people communicate. But for mobile app developers, speed isn’t the only thing that will present new possibilities in how apps are developed. Some other notable benefits include the following: Lower Latency Delays are a cause for concern among mobile device users, especially when these devices and their networks are being used to make critical decisions in real time. Current 4G networks have an average latency of 50 milliseconds, whereas ...

2020 Trends in Tech

2020 trends in tech: A new year equal new trends. 2020 already has new trends in the tech world. Check out a few tech trends that are ready to takeover. "1. The New Wave Of Video Streaming  The Streaming Wars have gone hot, and CES 2020 will be a major battlefield with the likes of both Quibi and NBCUniversal, which is launching its Peacock service this year, giving keynotes at the show. Both will get a chance to make their case to customers, detailing the kind of content their respective streaming services will offer when they arrive in the spring — and plenty of celebrities will surely appear. As everyone tries to catch up to Netflix, services are going to multiply. Yes, things are going to get confusing, but consumers will have more choice than ever. 2. Travel Gets An Upgrade Call it the Away Effect: Tech has always played a big part in travel, but many travelers today are both tech-savvy and extremely online, which has created opportunities to innovate. This goes beyond "smart luggage" with batteries and special pockets for charging cables — transportation companies like Delta, who is keynoting, now see themselves as selling an experience and not just the act of getting from point A to point B. Expect to hear how Delta is leveraging tech to offer all kinds of services besides just flights. 3. Privacy No Longer An Afterthought As the conversation about data privacy has gotten louder, CES — which tends to give outsize influence to non-U.S. tech companies — has largely ignored it. The tide is changing with CES 2020, though, with several panels that will address the issue directly, including a live-streamed panel with the Chief Privacy Officer of Facebook, Erin Egan, and Apple Senior Director of Global Privacy Jane Horvath. Sure to be discussed: California's ...

Students work with Apple to launch a mental health app

Students works with Apple Headquarters to launch Mental Health App  "Ohio State is making mental wellness more technologically accessible for its students through the launch of a mental health app. The app will be released in January 2020 after almost a year of development and promote mental wellness among students, Jessica Phillips, associate director of student experience with Digital Flagship, said. The app, designed in coordination with Apple Inc., will include Ohio State-specific and outside resources. The creation of a wellness app fulfills recommendations from University President Michael V. Drake’s Suicide and Mental Health Task Force, which was created to improve Ohio State’s mental health resources. The app’s conception began Jan. 21 during a three-day development process at Apple’s headquarters. Six students, two Digital Flagship representatives and four university administrators represented Ohio State during the collaboration in Cupertino, California. The mental health app will feature four main screens that will provide timely resources, immediate help, crisis help and proactive self-help information, Phillips said. “One big area of the app will be sharing timely resources for students,” Phillips said. “ will be presented with very carefully curated resources that would either help them on their own or to get help from a professional.” The app was developed in conjunction with university leaders and experts, but also relied on the help of Ohio State students as the main beneficiaries, Phillips said."Read More Ready to develop your own app? Words describe the decade in tech

Check out some words describing the decade in tech "Algorithm In computing terms, this means a set of rules or a step-by-step process for performing a task. As a word it's far older than the decade we're finishing, but it's gained notoriety over the past few years as the influence of social media has grown. Companies such as Facebook and Twitter use algorithms to determine which posts they present to you and in what order. Or in YouTube's case, an algorithm decides which videos are in the "Up Next" box. Most of the time these algorithms work well, but they're also being blamed for presenting hoax news stories, creating filter bubbles (where you only see information that reinforces your beliefs) and recommending videos with hateful content. In response to the criticism, some services have tweaked their algorithms to give their users more control over what content is shown. Artificial intelligence Like CNET's Jon Skillings, I'm going to defer to John McCarthy, the man who coined the term, to define it. He described artificial intelligence as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs." By "intelligent machine," he meant machines that can mimic things the human mind can do, such as solving problems or learning new information and adapting to it. And I'm not just talking about robots. Examples include self-driving cars and voice assistants (see below), but the topic is also controversial (as in, AI could have the power to end humanity). Machine learning is the branch of AI that teaches computers to learn tasks or recognize patterns on their own, while deep learning is an area of machine learning that's about recognizing relationships in data. Blockchain Gosh, this is a hard one. That's why I'll rely on my more knowledgeable colleague Stephen Shankland to explain. As he puts it, a blockchain ...
